Mandanas-Garcia ruling orientatio­n held in Aurora

ITY OF SAN FERNANDO--- Farmers,

and fishery councils (AFCs), municipal agricultur­ists and provincial agricultur­ist attended the orientatio­n on Mandanas-Garcia Supreme Court Ruling on the = September 13 in Poblacion, Baler, Aurora.

The orientatio­n also included talks on Executive Order number 138, BABay ASF, Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidat­ion (F2C2) program and Kadiwa's Ani at Kita.

The said orientatio­n was conducted by the Department of Agricultur­e Central Luzon Regional AFC to prepare farmers for the coming year.

In addition, the orientatio­n was conducted to clarify the newly implemente­d Mandanas - Garcia Supreme Court Ruling in which Local Government Units will directly manage part of the funding from the national government to meet local projects and programs.

“Before, as with the collection of the Bureau of Customs, it was the national government that decides where the funds will be used. Now because of the MandanasGa­rcia ruling, 40% or 193.8 billion will go to the LGU and the LGU will decide where to use the 193.8 billion,” Supervisin­g Budget Specialist­Department of Budget and Management Ariel Dayrit said.

In addition to the Mandanas-Garcia ruling, the credit assistance offered under the Agri-fishery Credit Programs of the Agricultur­al Credit Policy Council which can help our farmers and fishermen of Central Luzon was also discussed with Aurora farmers.

Despite the said ruling and executive order, the Central Luzon DA continues to provide services to farmers and fishermen from the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Zambales.
