OF SAN FERNANDO— Second District Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab met with leaders of Nanay Community Workers (NCW) in her district here the other day in bid to reach more sectors needing assistance amid the ongoing pandemic.

The meeting held at the Capitol’s session hall aimed to coordinate assistance efforts for the vulnerable sectors and create an updated database of sectors that have yet to be saturated with the current support programs of the government.

“We need to address the needs of sectors in the barangay level. This will also enable us to look at the concerns of sectors that are not reached by usual government support,” PinedCayabyab told NCW leaders stressing that they could easily look at the grassroots level.

NCW is an organization of volunteer household wives formed in 2015 aimed at assisting Vice-Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda in the speedy implementation of disaster, health response of the provincial government at the grassroots level.

According to PinedaCayabyab, the NCWs play a very important role in their respective communities in bringing the provincial government closer to the people.

The provincial legislator had called for the creation of a database list for vulnerable sectors like pregnant women, poorest-of-the-poor, transport utility personnel, persons with disabilities and families undergoing quarantine procedures. The lists are to be submitted to her office immediately to facilitate the requisition of much needed food or financial support.

Pineda-Cayabyab is set to distribute assistance in the coming days. Funding for the assistance will be sourced from her personal funds.
