Director Brillante Mendoza joins BL trend via 'Sisid'
Kapampangan and Highly acclaimed director Brillante Mendoza is joining the BL (Boys Love) trend with his latest flick "Sisid". The film stars Paolo Gumabao and Vince Rillon.
October 7, the whole cast arrived at Pola, Oriental Mindoro where the main cast had to take some diving lessons. Three days after, Direk Brillante started shooti ng.
According to Direk Brillante, he was inspired by the story of "Sisid". "Dito, it was very natural for them. Walang… pag sinabi kong gagawin nila, alam na nila yung gagawin nila. They will take off their clothes et cera, et cetera. Ganun lang."
In some photos posted by Paolo, they were spoon feeding each other captioned:
"Sobrang comfortable na kasi kami ni Vince sa isa’t isa. Hahaha! Naging close talaga kami, kaya hindi kami nahihiya sa ganyan. At para pagdating sa eksena, hindi kami maiilang."
The viewers would certainly expect more flesh in this movie.
"From the start naman, hindi namin ginawang isyu yung nudity. That’s part of the film. That’s part of the storytelling. Kumbaga, ayoko siyang gawing issue pag gumawa ako ng pelikula. Dito lang naman talaga tayo nagkaroon ng issue na may nudity, kailangang mag-frontal."
According to Direk Brillante "Sisid" is not just like any other BL film.
"Hindi ko sinasabi na BL, just for the sake of BL lang. Seryoso yung atake kasi namin dito.
And mararamdaman mo sa mga kasamahan mong mga artista, yung gumagawa, walang ano talaga… we have respect. Dito, it was very natural for them. Walang… Pag sinabi kong gagawin nila, alam na nila yung gagawin nila. They will take off their clothes et cera, et cetera. Ganun lang."
Direk Brillante plans to join the film in some international filmfest
"Meron kaming director’s cut. Nakausap ko na yung Viva. So, I will give them yung for their streaming. But I will do a cut na panginternational na hindi puwedeng pang-local. Kasi, parang hindi lang 'yan just for the sake na gagawa ka ng BL movie. May limitations din naman dito sa atin," he st r essed . * * *
