Serving with Humility
Romela O. Jose
I once read a quote from Joanne Raplis, “Be like a tree, stay grounded, connect with your roots, turn a new leaf, bend before you break, enjoy your unique natural beauty, keep growing.” As a teacher, I compare myself to a tree.
Everyday is a process of growing up. I learn from my day-to day encounters with the people whose path cross mine. I know, like a tree, I grow older. But just like it, I grow roots of maturity towards accepting that in this world of competition, my expertise may not be accepted at all times specially since the system always undergo paradigm shifts.
There will come a time that, there will be people at work who may be stronger, bolder and have strong personalities than me. But like a tree, I will keep bending, in respect to everyone. But I will continue to be a learner, will keep myself busy by learning new things discovering every potential I have in order to be of help to my students. But in silence I will practice to be a silent worker at all times. I will find in my heart to be happy with every accomplishment of my brethren without feeling negative towards them.
I will make sure to attend different teaching strategies to promote engaging activities special today that Distance Learning Delivery is undergoing process of development. I will try to solve the problem for the sake of my students. I will keep myself to be among the essential puzzle piece in equipping students the knowledge they need to know.
Life is too short, I am so blessed and favored to be given the gift of life and spending it with my family and having able to touch the lives of my students. And I will always count my blessings than my failures and misgivings.
