OVP's Vaccine Express goes to Tarlac Aeta communitie­s

APAS, Tarlac---Vice President Leni Robredo's office partnered anew with the local government of Capas, Tarlac to inoculate over 700 individual­s from Aeta communitie­s in Barangay Santa Juliana on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021.

CThe vaccinees, who fall under the A5 prioritiza­tion category (indigent sector), are given their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine after taking part in the first run of the Vaccine Express in Capas last Oct. 2, 2021. This is conducted as part of a medical caravan for Aetas, who would also receive a free medical check-up, a post-vaccinatio­n care kit, and relief packs.

Here, Robr edo checked the situation at the vaccinatio­n site and personally thanked Angat Buhay partners, LGU personnel, barangay health workers, and volunteers from the medical sector who joined the said initiative.

This collaborat­ion is done in response to a request made by the group Aeta Ako, Pilipino Ako Foundation, which sought OVP’s assistance to inoculate Aetas, in order to protect them from the virus whenever they visit the town proper for their livelihood.

The initiative is made possible with the help of Capas LGU led by Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan and its Municipal Health Office; barangay health workers; Aeta Ako, Pilipino Ako Foundation; the Health and Developmen­t for All Foundation; Magsaysay Multipurpo­se Cooperativ­e; and Equilibriu­m Intertrade Corporatio­n and Curve Coffee; Botica Capas; Rise Against Hunger Philippine­s; Mars Wrigley Philippine­s; Philippine­s Fujian General Business; Care Share Serve Give Charity; Nestle Philippine­s, Inc; LP Manila Matatag; Samahan Magdalo Internatio­nal;

Benedicto Steel Corporatio­n; UP Diliman University Student Council; Unilab; Procter & Gamble; Coalition of Philippine Manufactur­ers of PPE; Tsinelas Pampanga 4 Leni 2022; various Angat Buhay Donors, including John Lloyd Jambarao, Boots Auson-Roa, and Michael J. Chanco.

For this run, medical doctors and nurses, and medical students were mobilized from the following hospitals and institutio­ns: UST Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, St. Luke’s Hospital – Quezon City, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Smile Symmetry Dental Clinic, Makati Medical Center, Our Lady of Fatima University, DOH – Philippine Center for Specialize­d Healthcare, San Beda College of Medicine, FEU-NRMF, and University of Santo Tomas.
