The Pain within

-

What hurts the most? Physical pain or the pain within?

For the past days, staying here in a hospital made me write this article. It gave me a sense of drive to start a write up about my experience here in this facility. Being in pain whether physically and internally speaking brings a lot of agony. It is never a pleasant feeling to experience such.

First day of my stay gives me an anxious feel since it's my first time to a public hospital and also my first time to stay at least 5 days the most. So, this will be quite an adventure as i must say. The hospital is tidy and well maintained, there are some bathroom doors that need to be fixed and it has a strong running water in the faucet and they provide also food for the patients. The overall impression to the facility is beyond my expectation compare to the other public hospitals. And then the pain within occurs. The environment creates a colorful story to every patient that we encountered. The elderly woman whom we became close to, that we call "lola” that was lying beside our bed, the man that was badly bruised because of a motorcycle accident, the girl at the end part of the room agonizing with pain because of some intestinal problems and a 5-year-old kid who will undergo an operation of the appendix who kept on wailing and crying because of the discomfort in the ward.

Then the pain within became more agonizing...here comes the art of waiting. true, that patience is a virtue and waiting is an art.

The patients were given uncertain schedule for their operations or check-up.

Some patients were really in deep pain but in all fairness to the staff they really tend to the needs of the patients. But there is still inadequacy of the service...maybe because it’s a public hospital, I guess?

It's a waiting game for everybody.

And the torment became more agitating. The pain within became a realization. It will be an eye opener on what kind of a system we have. That yes, it is true if you have the money definitely you will not stay in a public hospital. But what if you are just an ordinary individual who can't afford the expenses of a private facilities. Inarguably your last resort will be the public hospitals.

It's a bitter sweet pill to swallow and absorbed all the happening if you are in a public hospital. The good part is the affordability of the services, but the not-so good part is having a once in a lifetime experience that will always lingers in your mind. So, it's up to you to choose your pain within.
