Learning in the New Normal
Mefil C. Laurente
Nobody predicted that there will be this transition of new normal learning form the traditional one. What is learning in the new normal? According to https:// www.mvorganizing.org/ , this set up allows learners to study at their own pace which makes sure that they will be able to continue their education at home. This situation needs the shared efforts of everyone involved in the learning and development of the students since there are different ways on implementing the new normal education.
In the new normal, there are different modalities or ways of learning - Modular Distance Learning, Online Distance Learning, and Television/ Radio-Based Instruction – and when a school used two or all these modalities, we call it Blended learning. All these means of learning need support from both parents and teachers to ensure the students are equipped with not only knowledge but also motivation to learn despite the situation.
Modular learning could be printed or not – modules are provided, and students are going to do the activities required in it. Online distance learning is another modality and requires materials at home that will allow learners to open the platforms that they will use for discussions. And Television or Radio-based Instruction permits the watch and listen to the lessons/ discussions of the teachers through their televisions and radios. These different modalities aim to continue give the learners the information and keep on studying in midst of pandemic where face-to-face learning is not allowed.
This shift of education is indeed a challenge for everyone. But as they say, in every situation there is always the good side. Despite what is happening, people were not discouraged but still find ways to keep on their tasks. Even in terms of education, this pandemic just brought out the creativity and passion of teachers, parents, and learners in order to still go on and continue learning and growing.
