Considering humans as the most important resources of an organization means acknowledging that human resources as the most important element in any organization. In the educational system, school heads most of the time takes the role of the human resources managers in the school level while the schools division personnel on the wider scope. While it is true that this role is more of getting the best people in your team, managing them, training and developing them and compensating their efforts, a number of considerations needs to be undertaken in order to maximize the most powerful weapon that administrators have that could help them achieve the goals of the organization.

School systems are bounded by DepEd orders in order to fully implement human resource management. School heads need to take note that it is their responsibility to not just manage the school as an institution but also manage the people behind every success of the school. It is not just about giving them the work to be done but also identifying their potentials in order to maximize what they can offer while they grow by themselves professionally and giving them the opportunities that they deserve. Creating the best system for human resource management in your school as school head could not just lead to a good relationship with your subordinates but also getting their trust in your administration. People work not just because of livelihood. They also work for themselves as individuals who are dreaming to uplift their status and aiming to get what they deserve out of their sacrifices and hardwork for the organization. If school heads learn to realize how important their role is in every single teacher or staff under their control, they will realize that they just not only need to build a healthy work environment but also to help build the dreams of their staff.

One way to maximize human resource is taking time to know the people. Knowing your staff not just means what they can teach but also what each staff can offer that will contribute to the attainment of your organization. Understanding their potentials or understanding their needs means a lot. Understanding their potentials leads to the best decisions of designating them to the positions or assignments that they can function to the best of their ability while at the same time recognizing that this person may or may not be up for promotion. Understanding their needs not only professionally and personally on some cases, is a big thing for your staff. This leads to creating activities that could help them grow professionally and work harmoniously with their colleagues in the organization. Well-developed teachers may yield to the delivery of the best quality education that learners could have.

Revisiting staff’s portfolio and meritorious achievements once in a while is the least thing that one can do in order to know your people and the treasures of your organization. Knowing them means knowing who to help, who to promote and who to tap in order to maximize to potentials of your organization. Getting enough knowledge about your staff could make managing them in the easiest and less stressful way. Getting to know them may simply being with them like Jesus who walked and lived with us as humans.
