No one will be left behind-ICT
Mario M. Taguinod
When ICT is integrated into lessons, students become more engaged in their work. This is due to the fact that technology allows for different ways to make it more fun and enjoyable to teach the same things in different ways.
According to DO 78, s 2010, paragraph 3 of the Guidelines on the Implementation of the Deped Computerization Program (DCP), it should aim to achieve the following goals: 1) Provide computer laboratory packages to secondary schools; 2) Provide e-classroom to elementary schools; 3) Provide laptop units to mobile teachers; 4) Integrate ICT in the school system; 5) Raise ICT literacy among learners, pupils, students, teachers, and school heads; and 6) Reduce the computer backlog in public schools.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education was implementing its computerization program, which involved providing schools with the technology they needed to support their initiatives. They are now gravitating toward tablet PCs and laptop computers. These devices will come pre-loaded with pre-installed e-learning resources and tools. This year's goal is to provide tablet PCs and laptops to senior high school students; elementary and secondary students will be targeted the following year. The distribution of tablet PCs and laptops addresses one aspect of their job, according to Mr. Abanil, which is to ensure that teachers have the right (and best) tools to deliver digital literacy skills.
More specifically, as stated in the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) Resource Package's 9th Module, 4.5.2. Select, develop, organize, and use appropriate teaching and learning resources, including ICT, to address learning goals, with its strand- Teaching and learning resources including ICT, the proper selection, development, organization, and utilization of teaching and learning resources, including ICT, helps enhance and maximize learners' participation by providing them with teaching and learning resources that can be seen or heard that provide concrete experiences about the subject.
Furthermore, this indicator was a criterion for the previous four (4) school years of implementation in the Classroom Observation Tool-Result-Based Performance and Management System (COT)-(RPMS) rating sheet as the basis for the teacher's demonstration teaching.
Therefore, there is no reason for the students to be left behind in terms of ICT. Teachers nowadays may be competent enough to share what they have learned in terms of ICT.
