Armor Division cites 2021 accomplishment highlights CAPAS,
Tarlac -- The Armor Division of the Phil ippine Army shared its accomplishment highlights for the year 2021.
These include community support programs, operations, COVID-19 efforts, and education and training.
Head of Civil Military Operations Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Flores said community support programs are in line with Executive Order No. 70, which aims to end local communist armed conflict.
"We extend the programs of the government to far-flung communities who cannot easily avail public services as our initiative to counter possible infiltration of the left-leaning groups," Flores said.
For this year, a total of 637 activities were administered by the different units of the division involving activities for National Greening Program, Peace Process, Nation Building, Youth Leadership
Summit, Consultation Dialogue with Indigenous Peoples, and National, Local, and Historical Events among others.
Through the operations conducted, the unit instituted the apprehension of 24 personalities, surrender of 34 personalities and recovery of 42 firearms.
In its response to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the division augmented support, security, and medical personnel to various local government units in their vaccination program.
"We provide manpower to local government units to speed up their vaccination program and to contribute for the immediate attainment of herd immunity in the country," he said.
For the municipality of Capas in Tarlac, about 60 uniformed personnel participated in the vaccination program.
Meanwhile, as part of the implementation of Republic Act No. 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, 56 High-Powered Firearms (HPFAS) and 27 Low-Powered Firearms (LPFAS) were turned over.
The 1st Mechanized Brigade gathered 48 HPFAS and 13 LPFAS, while the 2nd Mechanized Brigade collected 18 HPFAS and 14 LPFAS.
Towards capability building, specific skills and training were also provided for candidate and current personnel.
They received different career courses, in-house training, and in-service training designed for the conduct of operations of the unit.
Armor Division also participated in the dissemination of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, a government's response in ending local communist armed conflict. (PIA 3)
