Being an Educational Leader Amidst Pandemic

-

Covid -19 pandemic was never been dreamt by anybody even in their wildest dream. I thought everything caused the lost of the lives of our loved ones. Facing the pandemic at the same time doing the herculean task of being a school administrator was never easy. The challenges brought by the pandemic had taught me how to be stronger and resilient . There were many preparations that I need to do together with all the school stakeholders in order for us to cope with the changing times . We needed to prepare our BE-LCP or Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan during the first year and that was School Year 2020-2021 , we used distanced learning modality with printed modules and we successfully surpassed one school year . This School Year 2021- 2022 is another year to be triumphant , we prepared our BE-LCOP or Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan. All the programs, projects and activities in the school were anchored on the Sulong Edukalidad framework of DepED The normal set-up of face to face was turned into the used of varied learning delivery modalities depending on what best suit to school’s set-up . In my case , after taking into account all the important data, distance learning with printed modules and online distance learning were chosen to be the learning platforms that we can utilized this school year in order to deliver quality education even in this time of pandemic. Constant monitoring and evaluation of the performance of both teachers and learners is being conducted online. Learning happens when the teacher really exerts effort in the preparation of power point presentations and other video lessons. The needed gadgets of teachers, learners and parents as well as their access to internet are also of prime consideration. The needed skills of the teachers is also a main factor to consider and this is the main reason why there were a lot of seminar- workshops and trainings for teachers in order to upskill and reskill them. The mental and psychosocial health of the learners, parents and teachers should also be consider because Covid 19 really affected one’s way of living. Many lost their jobs because of the lock downs and a number of these jobless individuals were parents of our learners. Depression may also set –in, that is why we had our stress management webinars for learners and parents and also for our teachers. Despite the onset of Covid – 19 pandemic we must continue to develop the 3Hs of our learners, their Heads, Hearts and Hands. The burden of facing a great challenge can be won by the unity of all the people in the school community and of course not to forget to always implore Gods love and protection so that you will achieve success in all your undertakings.
