Importance of Health Education this Pandemic
Lodimir S. Ramos
Learners benefit from school-based health education because it builds the attitudes, beliefs, and practice skills needed to adopt and maintain healthy habits throughout their life. Learners are connected to health services when health education is taught by dedicated teachers. Health education becomes effective when parents and community partners are engaged in the delivery of quality health awareness. Health education in the classroom equips learners with the knowledge and skills to safeguard their health and succeed in school.
However, school-based health education is now impossible to carry out because of the temporary closure of schools due to the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The temporary closure of schools made sudden interruptions to the face-to-face classes, which resulted in the implementation of remote learning. Teachers made learning accessible to all learners by promoting different platforms for distance learning. Some teachers considered blended learning as an effective method to deliver education remotely. Teachers conducted lessons to continuously spread awareness of the importance of different health protocols to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The online learning opportunity will be furthered strengthened by answering the modules provided to all learners.
Health education is implemented, especially this time of the pandemic, to assist learners of all ages in adopting, promoting, and supporting health protocols or practices.
