world improves through innovations and research. Our lives become better, convenient, and comfortable because of some people’s diligence to look for ways and means to find answer to their queries. It may be easily said than done, but it is all worth it.

This is true even in education, research improves quality of learning. It addresses the needs to improve and verify the effectiveness of certain processes. As starter we may launch a Classroom Based Research before, we proceed with full blown research processes thereby establishing research skills.

Classroom-based research is a teacher-driven activity that aims to find out what works best in our classrooms, so that we might improve our practice, and ultimately make learning more effective for the benefit of our students.

By doing a Classroom Based Action Research, a teacher is deemed to improve his own teaching in his own classroom, department, or school. While there is no requirement that the findings be generalized to other situations the results can add to knowledge base.

DepEd Action Research is defined as a process of systematic, reflective inquiry to improve educational practices or resolve problems in any operating unit (i.e., school, classroom, office). The area of research differs based on the levels of governance. All research proposals must be anchored on the following thematic areas: (1) Teaching and Learning, (2) Child Protection (3) Human Resource Development and (4) Governance.

Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 16, s.2017, in support of the Department’s policy development process, research agenda, and policy and program development and implementation, the Department of Education (DepEd) continues to promote and strengthen the culture of research in basic education. DepEd hereby establishes the Research Management Guidelines (RMG) to provide guidance in managing research initiatives in the national, regional, schools’division, and school levels. The enclosed policy also improves support mechanisms for research such as funding, partnerships, and capacity building.

Being a part of something that will improve our learner’s performance in school is the goal of every teacher. In doing so we share not only our minds, hearts, presence and even resources to make a difference. We are doing this in a limited audience, but when we plunge In with Classroom Based Research, we multiply the effect. The feeling of doing a research work benefits the field of education ,no matter how simple it is a great accomplishment.
