High-quality, Culturally Sensitive Instructional Materials Made by Technology Can Make a Big Difference in Virtual Schooling
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, teachers are developing a growing collection of tools to assist students' learning and well-being during school cancellations. Several critical techniques that helped schools pivot to effective virtual learning were identified, as well as lessons from those experiences that schools might employ to increase academic attainment in the future.
Extend the needed characteristics of "high-quality" teaching materials to include being tech-enabled, culturally relevant, and engaging and educating parents as partners in student assistance. As a starting point, use high-quality instructional resources to build effective partnerships that focus on the four pillars of student success: academic content, student leadership in their learning, teachers' knowledge and expertise, and family support. There should be a focus on curriculum-based professional development that includes all four of those pillars, with the goal of meeting the needs of students, families, and communities. Make processes and frameworks that enable families, teachers, and students to work together to develop, monitor, and improve learning experiences.
Teachers who use high-quality, culturally sensitive educational resources that are made possible by technology and that are also useful for parents can make a big difference in virtual schooling.
Instead of families being "passive recipients" of instruction, it is time for a new educational model that fully integrates families into the instructional process by utilizing highquality instructional materials to foster close coordination and collaboration between students, families, and teachers.
High-quality instructional resources enable students to interact with the standards more deeply and meaningfully. Students benefit from increased learning when they have access to high-quality educational resources. People who use high-quality instructional materials have a bigger and more cost-effective impact on academic results than people who use other things.
Educators have one of the most vital jobs on the planet. It is our responsibility to make their work simpler. We think that having high-quality educational resources on hand helps teachers become better teachers and students get a better education.
