The Role of the School Head in Ensuring Excellence in the Teaching-Learning Process

-

Excellence and competence in the delivery of the teaching-learning process is more than just the display of knowledge and skills as it also involves positive display of attitude and values, the willingness to progress and to fulfill the task given to him or her to the best of his or her abilities.

As an educator and a school leader, we are mandated/ commissioned to deliver and implement the most equitable, relevant, quality and inclusive education for the Filipino youth. We must provide educational services that would fully cater to the needs of diverse learners, particularly, in transforming their lives. Thus, every educator must seek and evaluate various means that would help improv the delivery of the teaching-learning process. But to be able to accomplish this, we must outstandingly deliver quality and liberating education to diverse learners to through effective and relevant classroom instructions.

One way to attain this is to continuously seek for professional and personal development and progress and it could be realized by submitting ourselves to post graduate programs, doing some professional readings and/ or attending trainings and workshops. The foregoing are acknowledged to be beneficial to the teachers and learners, alike as it would constantly improve our teaching skills which will eventually redound to an improved academic performance for our learners.

Attending such worthwhile endeavors will further ensure implementation of quality, inclusive and effective instruction. As the cliché goes, “One cannot give what he or she doesn’t not have.” Teacher, as mentors, are known to be fountains of information and facilitators of learning. With such high regards for the us frontliners in the academe, it is but just right that we do our best to improve our craft as mentors. We should be one with the government in working to produce globally competitive graduates who are willing to serve fellow Filipinos or other people, globally. Through the collaboration of the key players and stakeholders of the schools, this vision would be easier to realized via interfacing and constant practice of responsibility and accountability.

As a DepEd personnel in charge of monitoring the implementation of the curriculum and delivery of instruction and administration of evaluation/ assessment, various ways are undertaken to ensure that I am constantly updated and equipped with the new trends in educational researches and teaching strategies. Excellence in the Teaching-Learning process really a demonstration of a positive working attitude, immense knowledge on various concepts and great competence. Hence, every educator must keep on learning through various means.
