Kindergarten in 2022
In a child’s life, entering into kindergarten is already a terrifying yet the most exciting milestone for him/ her and the parents. This period can be filled with a lot of expectations, uncertainties and even disappointments. Some children are more adjusted to their surrounding and more used to the kindergarten set-up than others. Some are still coping with the changes from being at home to being in a classroom environment. During the pandemic, kindergarten teachers see a lot of significant changes in the learning progress of children. Before the pandemic, children are taught handson learning, and the basics of kindergarten like honing their manipulative skills as well as fine motor skills and gross motor skills. And by the end of the school year, teachers are able to assess each learner of these skills and come up with concrete results. Nowadays, during this Covid-19 pandemic, teachers have to adjust on the learning assessment for their learners. Children are missing out on learning experiences of a face-to-face classes wherein it sets the learners to develop academically and enhance their social and emotional being upon entering kindergarten. Now changes were made on modular-based and online-based learning. Both are extremely difficult because there are no interactions, and they also miss out on learning to work in groups. But in every situation, teachers, parents, and learners must learn to adapt. This is where other remediation and follow-up meetings come into place. While all these might be a bit overwhelming, we just have to embrace the changes and move forward.
