The delivery of quality education has been one of the most affected sector when Covid-19 virus emerge and became a global pandemic. It has been almost two school years of distance learning, and students tend to continue their schooling through online and modular modality which brought so much adjustments to both the learners, teachers and everyone working in the field of education. However, not all were privileged enough to cope up with the changes of homeschooling. It came as a shock to learners and parents who has limited or no access to internet connectivity and enough knowledge to guide the children in their schoolwork.

These predicaments will now be given possible solutions as the Department of Education announced that it will gradually implement limited face to face classes as we approached the end of the school Year 2021-2022. In preparation for this, the agency reminded all the school administrators and personnel, stakeholders and learners to strictly observe the existing minimum health public standards and safety protocols to assure no casualty will be reported as much as possible. In addition, DepEd reiterated that only vaccinated teachers and non-teaching personnel shall report on site and vaccinated learners are given preferred to participate in the expanded face to face classes.

With the implementation of expanded face to face learning, all grade levels are now encouraged to participate in the face to face classes but in consideration of their school’s capacity to abide by the health protocols set by their respective LGUs. To see the schools’ compliance to this, regional and division personnel visited random schools to assess their readiness with regards to four major indicators- safe operations, including the most marginalized, well-being and protection and with greater emphasis on teaching and learning.

Parents and guardians of the learners were also given a chance to have a glimpse of the setting as Deped slowly tries to bring the students at a classroom-based learning through an orientation from their school administrators and teachers. The policies and process of the expanded face to face learning were explained to them assuring that their children will be safe at school and will be given the academic consideration specifically for those who are being left behind.
