The Convergent Concept of Technology an Education

With regards to my experience working with college students, I’ve constantly witnessed their prodigious importance of using technology inside the classroom.

Use of technology appeared to conform to skills that they need socially, emotionally, and intellectually as they complete their college education. I also found out that many instructors and even parents support the use of technology in the classroom. But on the other hand, I have also verified the negative impact of technology among pre- schoolers or young children.

At times, students would just copy -and- paste their research and homework from the internet and they submit them to their instructors who handle the particular subject.

But on one side, some instructors find the use of technology to be tedious as they spend more time in learning how to use the technological gadgets or devices instead of devoting more quality time to their students. Despite the downside, technology in education still plays an important role in improving the educational skills and knowledge of learners and teachers.

As constructivist teachers/ instructors in the 21st century, however, we need to use technology wisely and properly. Teachers/ instructors can enhance their teaching skills and strategies every time they are facing their class. It also aids parents in molding their children to become good and resourceful leaders.

In the classroom setting, I discovered many more technological options for my students. Aside from direct instruction, I could prepare power point presentations of focus lessons using a laptop or tablets.

Using downloaded videos connected with the lesson I teach make teaching comfortable and learning fun and enjoyable among students. I find these teaching styles more effective compared to the traditional way of presenting the lesson. As technology become part and parcel of instruction in student’s life, the 21st century demands that a literate educator possesses a wide- range of abilities and competencies.

Teachers/ instructors don’t need to know everything about a particular piece of technology. They only need “just enough” to help them complete an instructional task; they do not need to be proficient with technology but rather need to be comfortable in using technology within a curriculum activity.

As an instructor, I am eager to learn more about technology’s effective use and the potential benefits that can bring to my students. I hope I can make the full use of technology for the quest of excellence in quality education.
