Public warned to prevent fire
ANGELES CITY --- Local officials warned the public to take precuations to prevent fire incidents as the country observes Fire Prevention Month this March.
This after Airland Supermarket in Barangay Santo Rosario was razed by a big fire Sunday night that reach Alarm Level 4.
Rudy Simeon, chief of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), said no casualties were reported in the fire which started at the supermarket's warehouse.
As soon as the blaze was raised to Alarm 4 by the city's fire department, fire brigades from other cities and towns and volunteers assisted in putting out the fire.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. commended the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), volunteers from Mabalacat City and Magalang town for their continuous efforts for the city.
He also mentioned the ACDRRMO led by Rodolfo Simeon for immediately rushing to the scene.
“Maraming salamat po sa walang sawang tulong ninyo,” Lazatin said.
The Angeles BFP deployed three fire trucks and one tanker to contain the fire in the three-floor building.
Fire fighters who responded include the Volunteer Fire Brigade led by Mabalacat City Councilor Timothy Dee; Mabalacat City Fire Department; Magalang Fire Department; Bacolor Fire Department; Sta. Rita Fire
Department; Porac Fire Department and other nearby town fire departments.
A fourth alarm requires an estimated 16 trucks at the scene, tapping all nearby fire brigades province-wide and even volunteers.
Lazatin went to the scene to check his kabalens residing in the area.
It took 16 hours for the firemen to put out the fire.
Lazatin is asking for prayers for the fire victims and the firemen who have been on the scene for more than 16 hours containing the fire.
The city government has a Disaster Prevention and Response Plan approved by the National Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council.
Simeon said te BFP is still assessing the cost of the damage caused by the fire.
