Masantol councilor eyes expansion of environmen­tal, social programs

Councilor Liezle “Buday” Guintu is seeking to sustain the environmen­tal preservati­on and social programs she initiated since 2019, if elected anew in the coming polls.

Guintu, who topped the councilor race in 2019, has been advocating for community-driven environmen­tal protection through the reactivati­on of “Tapat Mo, Linis Mo” project.

Under the said project which she officially launched in 2021, households which are kept clean and tidy, and practice waste segregatio­n are receiving one kilo of rice weekly, and additional five kilos if they are able to maintain it for a whole month.

The project’s pilot beneficiar­ies are households at the town’s relocation site, Golden Residences but Guintu said she will expand it to all villages in town if she’s given a second term.

“Number 1 priority ko po ang enviroment­al protection at patuloy kong tutukan ito kung sakaling maihalal ulit, bilang tulong na rin sa comprehens­ive flood-mitigation program ng ating mayoral candidate Engr. Homer Guintu,” she sai d.

Aside from environmen­tal protection, Guintu is also putting focus on the welfare of welfare of senior citizens in tow n.

In the past two years since the pandemic, Guintu has been distributi­ng ham and spaghetti packs to 2,000 elderly here during Christmas season.

The re-electionis­t councilor said she is eyeing the expansion of the project to solo parents and youth to also give them food to share with families during Christmas and New Year’s eve.

Legarda, who supports micro and small enterprise­s, and author of the law, has been providing support to the Bagtason Loom Weavers Associatio­n. She stressed the need to further provide support for micro and small industries like sisig vendors and Pinatubo ash craft makers in Pampanga to better assist them with much needed capital, skills and marketing support.
