Angeles City National High School-SHS prepares learners for the resumption of Face-to-Face Classes through Psychosocial Support Session

One of the preparations for the resumption of the face-to-face classes is the safeguarding of the mental and emotional needs of the learners; hence, the activity “My School Chair: A Psychosocial Support Session” which was conducted at the Angeles City National High School – Senior High School last April 1, 2022.
ACNHS – SHS not only puts premium value to the cognitive capacity of their learners, but also gives equal importance to their mental and emotional well-being. This session was given to learners who opted to participate to the progressive face-to-face classes amidst the gradual resumption of in-person classes of educational institutions, two years since the pandemic. The said initiative intends to provide learners the needed support for their mental and emotional well-being as they build relationships anew with their teachers and classmates, and the school community. Moreover, through this, they are bound to be guided in understanding their feelings and emotions as their own human persons.
The session started with a discussion of the objectives and goals of the session among the learners, focusing on the following topics: 1. Reactions to Covid, 2. Feelings and Emotions, 3. Emotional Intelligence, and 4. Emotional Regulation. Each learner was given ample time to express their ideas and feelings. The session received positive feedback from the attendees, especially on the topic of Feelings and Emotions.
In the end, the organizers of the event hope that through this session the learners realize these three key takeaways: first, it is okay not to be okay, but is not okay to stay not okay; second, they are not alone in what they are feeling, as others also feel that way, but they must control their feelings and emotions, not the other way around; and lastly, they are free to ask for help, and they, too, could offer help to others.
