CDC conducts blood donation drive

CLARK FREEPORT--Clark Developmen­t Corporatio­n (CDC), in partnershi­p with the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center (AUFMC) – Blood Bank, recently held a blood donation drive here.

Employees from the state-owned firm and workers from various companies in Clark participat­ed in the activity held at the CDC Health and Sanitation Division (HSD) Training Hall.

According to HSD Manager Dr. Clemencita Dobles, a total of 46 blood bags were collected from 46 successful donors.

The donors underwent free basic health screening that included blood pressure checks, blood glucose tests and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks prior to extraction of blood.

Dobles said that the bloodletti­ng activity aims to raise public awareness on the importance of blood donation and how this initiative can help save lives.

The CDC voluntary blood donation program is also in support of the Department of Health’s (DOH) National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP). This program is in accordance with the Republic Act No. 7119 also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994 that promotes voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe blood and to regulate blood banks.

Prior to the conduct of the bloodletti­ng drive, CDC- HSD also initiated other activities in celebratio­n of World Health Day. Some of these are COVID19 vaccinatio­n and free Xray for PUV drivers, utility and maintenanc­e personnel, family planning and counsellin­g, free medical consultati­on, HIV/AIDS testing and counsellin­g, bone scan screening, and Renal Disease Prevention Program.
