San Fernando mayoral aspirant eyes close ties with neighbor mayors

-

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO---Perennial flooding and economic growth can be directly addressed through close coordination with mayors of the cities of Mabalacat and Angeles, says City of San Fernando mayoral candidate Jimmy Lazatin.

In a one on one interview on the All Politics is Local program on OneNews telecast Wednesday night, incumbent Vice Mayor Lazatin spoke to hosts Cheryl Cosim and Jay Taruc on the interconnected nature of local economies compels him to work with neighboring mayors.

He said “The floodings in the city is not just the probmem of San Fernando but it’s neighboring cities and municipalities as well… we need a flood summit to finally address this issue. ”

Decongestion of waterways to remove waste and improve water flow will need community cooperation, Lazatin added.

He also cited the role of his city in the economic master plan for San Fernando, Mabalacat, and Angeles City formalized by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Lazatin cited “It is part of the Megalopolis Master Plan na ginawa po ng ating butihing presidente dati ni GMA (Gloria Macapagal Arroyo) pina commission niya kay Palafox ang San Fernando as part of the golden triangle, ibig sabihin San Fernando, Angeles at Mabalacat po”

He also said improved services and access to the regional medical center can be dovetailed with efficient barangay centers where medical tests and free medicines should be immediately given.

According to Lazatin “We need to strengthen our Barangay Health Centers for the convinience of our seniors, PWD and people with simple ailments to be treated right away, they do not need to travel far from their homes.… I believe prevention is better than the cure.”

of immediate concern or under the orange category.

Meanwhile, there are 73 towns and six cities in the region that are classified as election areas of no security concern or under the green category.

Baccay said those areas under the yellow and orange categories have intense political rivalry, a history of election-related incidents in the last two polls, and the presence of armed men such as gun-for-hire and New People’s Army communist terrorist groups.

Baccay said so far that there are no election areas of grave concern.

“We have zero areas with grave concern here in Central Luzon because of the success of the PNP and the AFP in our anti-insurgency campaign. Very limited na ang influence (the influence) or even the presence and number of armed men or the components of the NPA in our areas of responsibilities in Central Luzon,” Baccay said during their "Leaders in Focus: 2022 National and Local Elections" meeting.

He assured the public that the classification of 51 areas as election hotspots should not be a cause of concern.

“In general, the current political situation in Central Luzon is peaceful and manageable. We have conducted pre-election interventions and activities based on the PNP timeline of activities which made our environment more conducive to live in as all forms of crime incidents significantly reduced,” Baccay said.

He added that they will continue to conduct more intel-driven operations against potential private armed groups and other forms of criminality in order to achieve secured, accurate, free, and fair elections. ( (Ric Sapnu)
