Utilizing Technology for Effective Teaching

Utilizing Information and Communication Technology is one of the important aspects that we are expected to have during the teaching and learning process. It cannot be denied that this is already one inevitable means to execute the lesson as we are already catering to learners of the new generation who are digital natives.

Thus, for us teachers, we must keep abreast with the changing world by updating our knowledge and skills to meet the needs and expectations of our learners. The new trend of teaching tells us that we must not be sages on stage but rather facilitators of learning, realized by means of many teaching strategies, particularly using ICT in teaching and learning.

Furthermore, using ICT makes us have lesser effort in teaching. Videos and powerpoint presentations would make us teach better and easier because these educational materials would actually provide information while we facilitate on the discussion.

Also, ICT makes teaching more meaningful, interactive and engaging among learners as their senses are more utilized. The sound, colors, and effects would indeed make learning a lot more exciting.

However of course, let us keep in mind that the gadgets, TV, apps are just aids for learning. Teachers must not solely depend on them to do the teaching. Instead, these must be made as supplements to help us in attaining our lesson objectives. After all, the most important visual aid inside the classroom is an effective teacher who has the determination in making learning happen.
