UPHOLDING DIGNITY AS A PROFESSION

One of the objectives that we must fulfill as teachers as stated in the fourth Key Result Areas is adopting practices that uphold the dignity of teaching as a profession. This can be shown by exhibiting qualities such as caring attitude, respect and dignity among varied stakeholders.

This can be verified by means of evidences such as documentations, screenshots, messages and the like from superiors, colleagues , learners, parents and other stakeholders. Analyzing this matter, as teachers, we must not just be excellent in teaching. We must not just be intelligent and creative in terms of lesson execution but we are expected to be more than that.

Yes of course it is our job specification to be effective teachers, but aside from that, we have other essential roles to fulfill as members of our organization. We cannot just simply say that our work is done and we deserve an outstanding rating if we have not fulfiiled these qualities expected of us as persons and professionals.

This is actually not a difficult thing to do. For, if we are acting, speaking and thinking as professionals and role models to people around us, then, this is actually not something complicated to do.

Remember, people look up to us and we have high regards to the society. Thus we must be careful with our actions and even posting on social media because we are expected to maintain being dignified. We are expected to be caring, respectful and persons with integrity.

There are many things to think of as examples for this matter, but the thing is, objectively speaking, our oath as professional teachers as well as role models to our society as specified in the Code of Ethics would be the best basis.
