The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Olongapo Chapter held a bloodletting activity with the theme, "Share Life: Give Blood" at Iram High School in Iram New Cabalan, Olongapo City last April 22, 2022. The activity was timed to coincide with the mobile registration of National ID’s spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority Zambales.
Originally an annual event, the bloodletting activity was halted with the onslaught of the COVID19 pandemic. With its resumption this year, students, teachers, and parents of Iram High School were able to participate.
“Masaya kami at naipagpatuloy na ang gawain na ito, nagpapasalamat kami sa ating mga stakeholders dahil sa kanilang patuloy na suporta sa ating mga gawain sa IHS,” said the proponent, Ma’am Michelle P. Oli, T.L.E. teacher and Red Cross Youth (RCY) Adviser. Present also in the activity was James Bryan Dela Cruz, IP student leader and RCY president of the school.
The bloodletting activity amassed 19 successful donors while 12 was deferred due to medical concerns. 47 individuals availed free blood typing services, also provided by PRC Olongapo Chapter.
“Hindi lang po kayo nakakatulong sa iba sa pag-donate ng dugo, may tulong din po ito sa inyong kalusugan,” assured Ms. Frances Mae Almerol, Medical Technologist for PRC Olongapo as she oriented the attendees of the activity.
Meanwhile, the Mobile Registration Activity assisted by the PSA-Zambales, aimed to assist students, parents, and teachers in availing birth certificate registration and processing National ID with the least amount of effort. 59 people completed their registration for the National ID while 19 processed their request for birth certificate.
During the simultaneous activities, the Unified Professional Metrowalk “Sniper and Valor Eagles” Club, a new school partner introduced by Ms. Dulce Dionisio, Supervising Statistical Specialist of PSA Zambales and headed by Sir Arnel “Bujak” Gonzales, sponsored 10 free birth certificate registration and distributed 103 free food packets to IP beneficiaries.
“Sana po ay maging umpisa ito ng marami pang susunod na programa kasama ang Eagles at ang Iram High School,” stated Sir Arnel.
