Tarlac reelects 11 mayors; elects 7 new

TARLAC CITY -- A total of 11 incumbent mayors in Tarlac succeeded in their re-election bids during the 2022 polls.

Cristy Angeles of Tarlac City and Elma Macadamia of San Clemente were both incumbent and unopposed.

Angeles thanked her supporters for giving her another chance to serve in the city, and appealed for healing and unity.

“The election brought out different opinions about the candidates. Now that it is over, it is time to heal and continue the progress that we have seen and felt for the past six years. Let us not allow political difference­s to disregard what we started. In Tarlac City, we will always be a family that helps and cares for each other,” she sai d.

Nora Modomo of Sta. Ignacia and Eloy Eclar of Gerona won via landslide victory in their respective towns.

Eclar expressed his gratitude to his constituen­ts for their support from his first until his last term.

“It is a great privilege to serve you, and to continue realizing programs and projects towards our town’s economic growth,” he added.

Other re-elected mayors include Venus Jordan of La Paz, Romeo Ong Capitulo of San Jose, Estelita Aquino of Moncada, and Freddie Domingo of Pura.

Also successful in defending their posts are Donya Tesoro of San Manuel, Erlon Agustin of Camiling, and Max Roxas of Paniqui.

Meanwhile, a total of seven towns will have new local chief executives.

In the third district, Alice Guo makes history as the first female mayor of Bamban while Noel Villanueva returns in Concepcion. Boots Rodriguez unseated the incumbent in Capas.

In the second district, Rex Villa Agustin led the mayoral race in Victoria.

Three towns in the first district also elected new mayors including Jappy De Dios of Anao, Celso Banag of Ramos and Iluminado Pobre Jr. of Mayantoc. (PIA 3)
