Agri-traders find market in DA’s Kadiwa program in AC

ANGELES CITY— The Kaagapay sa Diwa at Gawa (Kadiwa) ni Ani at Kita was successful­ly opened on Tuesday, September 13 at the Marquee Mall Activity Center in Angeles City.

It showcased various agricultur­e products by farmers and young-agri ent r ep r eneu r s.

The Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program aims to ensure that food commoditie­s are made available and accessible in high consumer demand areas, particular­ly among the low-income families.

The project is aimed at harnessing private sector participat­ion, capacity enhancemen­t of farmer cooperativ­es and associatio­ns, and engaging community organizati­ons’ participat­ion in food supply distributi­on syst em.

The mobile market initiative program is expected to provide affordable, accessible, and healthy agri-fishery products to the consumer, especially during this time of the pandemi c.

The program was held under the leadership of the Agribusine­ss and Marketing Assistance Division of the Department of Agricultur­e for Central Luzon and in collaborat­ion with Marquee Mall and Alagang AyalaLand.

The department also gave some of the young winners from the Young Farmers Challenge the opportunit­y to sell their products.

The opening was attended by Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Operations and Extension and AMAD Dr. Eduardo Lapuz, Jr., General Manager Peachy Atendido, AMAD Chief Fernando Lorenzo, Senior Agricultur­ist Menchie Nogoy and Senior Agricultur­ist Sherwin Manlapaz.

Lapuz stated that the department aims to increase the production and income of farmers in the country.

"Our aim is to increase the production of our farmers and eventually increase their income. So, our Department of Agricultur­e is implementi­ng various programs so that we can achieve our desired food sufficienc­y, have available food, and accessible and affordable food for our consumers," he added.

Meanwhile, AMAD Chief Lorenzo expressed the rationale of the activity.

"We are here today to further inspire and support our young farmers to be more competitiv­e and give them the opportunit­y to earn, there is money in agricultur­e when you are diligent, innovative, and hardworkin­g," he said.
