THE ABSENCE OF CLASS TO ROOM
NEPTALI M. SICAT
One of the best places where a learner lives is a classroom. This is a remarkable place to everyone because all of us have experienced being a student who goes to school and study in a classroom. The importance of a classroom is undeniably taken into account for it provides us an environment that we relish and an experience that is meaningful. The purpose of a classroom is to give learners hope, desires, aspirations and happiness as they grow holistically. This is where learners discover their greatest potentials and build harmonious relationship with friends.
A room itself without class won’t define its purpose. Because no matter how conducive the room is, if there is absence of class, it will never be a classroom. Class is deemed to be the best resources of making the classroom productive and it meets standards. A class, consisting of number of learners, is composing of clienteles in managing a classroom plan. Thus, the role of a classroom manager is to put the 21st century students on top priorities.
As I constructed my Classroom Management Plan, I have contemplated that the teacher's skills and positive attributes have a significant impact to how learners perform in a classroom. One of the challenges I encountered is the nostalgic feeling as I remember classroom activities that I conducted before when the country is not yet hit by the coronavirus disease. It is still different to really see learners who grow by how you raise them as good individuals. Since we are now under the New Normal setting, in replacement to the real scenario of having a classroom, social media platforms have been used in managing our class. I open the door for my learners when I encourage them to join Online Kumustahan sessions via google meet. I connect with them through group chats in messenger as often as I can. It's my way of giving technical assistance in schooling.
After all, real setting is the best room for obtaining knowledge and skills. Classroom environment is vital to promote and stimulate collaborative learning. Students learn best using groups to enhance learning through working together. It increases a student's intrapersonal skills and awareness about how other students learn and enables them to learn more easily and effectively, transforming them into smart learners inside and beyond classroom.
