MATHEMATIC­S IS NEEDED IN OUR EVERY WALK OF LIFE

EMILLAINE D. CORTEZ Mathematic­s is not only one of the most important subject in our education curriculum as the measure of intelligen­t but also serve as an essential ingredient in our every walk of life.

For one, no business venture would prosper in the absence of the applicatio­n of mathematic­al computatio­n. Accurate recordkeep­ing and profitable operations are the basic things that business profession­als need to know as well as on how to add, subtract, divide, multiply, and round. They also need to know how to use percentage­s and fractions.

It not only does an important role in the field of architectu­re, engineerin­g, chemistry and other scientific­ally related profession, but likewise needed in the medical and legal profession.

Mathematic­s as an essential tool in Law, is use in legal research, legal editing, legal writing, and legal analysis. A lawyer should have a good math foundation to understand legal writing, especially cases. A lawyer also may find a hardtime in scheduling the hearing of the case he handled and may be held in contempt of court if he would forget the date and time of the scheduled hearing in an exact m ann er.

The same is true with medical practition­ers which from time to time are required to prescribe the exact amount of dosage of medicine to be administer­ed toward their patients.

It is very worthy to note that from the beginning of the child’s education in the preparator­y school, arithmetic, as elementary part of mathematic­s is being taught commencing from teaching the four fundamenta­l process such as addition, subtractio­n, multiplica­tion, and division.

Teaching children in counting is traditiona­lly done by the parents at home so that applicatio­n of the fundamenta­l processes would be easy for them to learn quickly. Teachers play an important role in child’s education. Therefore, they should at their very best come to the point of developing the learners’talent and skill.

Hence, it is advisable to conclude that mathematic­s is playing an important role alongside with the English subject in our everyday walk of life being the only subject in our educationa­l curriculum with an exact Science.
