MATHEMATICS IS NEEDED IN OUR EVERY WALK OF LIFE

EMILLAINE D. CORTEZ Mathematics is not only one of the most important subject in our education curriculum as the measure of intelligent but also serve as an essential ingredient in our every walk of life.

For one, no business venture would prosper in the absence of the application of mathematical computation. Accurate recordkeeping and profitable operations are the basic things that business professionals need to know as well as on how to add, subtract, divide, multiply, and round. They also need to know how to use percentages and fractions.

It not only does an important role in the field of architecture, engineering, chemistry and other scientifically related profession, but likewise needed in the medical and legal profession.

Mathematics as an essential tool in Law, is use in legal research, legal editing, legal writing, and legal analysis. A lawyer should have a good math foundation to understand legal writing, especially cases. A lawyer also may find a hardtime in scheduling the hearing of the case he handled and may be held in contempt of court if he would forget the date and time of the scheduled hearing in an exact m ann er.

The same is true with medical practitioners which from time to time are required to prescribe the exact amount of dosage of medicine to be administered toward their patients.

It is very worthy to note that from the beginning of the child’s education in the preparatory school, arithmetic, as elementary part of mathematics is being taught commencing from teaching the four fundamental process such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Teaching children in counting is traditionally done by the parents at home so that application of the fundamental processes would be easy for them to learn quickly. Teachers play an important role in child’s education. Therefore, they should at their very best come to the point of developing the learners’talent and skill.

Hence, it is advisable to conclude that mathematics is playing an important role alongside with the English subject in our everyday walk of life being the only subject in our educational curriculum with an exact Science.
