- MARY CRISTINE D. ACORDON

Physical activity and involvement are critical in students’ holistic development. In today's digital age, where students are more focus on their phones and computers watching videos in different social media and playing online games, it is important to promote physical activity in schools. Physical activity not only improves physical health but also enhances the cognitive abilities and social skills of the students. One effective way to engage students in physical activity is by incorporating it into the school curriculum. Physical education classes should be given equal importance as other academic subjects like Mathematics and English. By integrating physical activities into different subjects, such as math or science, teachers can make learning more interactive and enjoyable for students. Students also need to know and understand the importance of physical activity to their growth and development. Another way to engage students in physical activity is by organizing extracurricular sports teams or clubs where students can choose with the variety of options of sports and activities. These activities not only provide an opportunity for students to move but also foster skills such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Schools can also join inter-school competitions or organize sports days to encourage healthy competition among students. Furthermore, teachers can develop activities that builds student’s interest. Children according to study increasingly attracted to newest forms of technology, this interest or attraction of students can be used in developing activities that can engage children in physical activity like interactive video games or sports, smart watches that can monitor their movements, and work outs applications. In conclusion, engaging students in physical activity is vital for their physical, mental, emotional and social development. By incorporating it into the curriculum, organizing extracurricular activities, and utilizing their interest in technology, schools can successfully promote a healthy lifestyle among their students. It is essential that teachers realize the importance of physical activity to students and take proactive measures to ensure that every student has access to regular physical activity opportunities.
