Out-of-field teaching, or teachers teaching subjects unrelated to their area of expertise, is a persistent problem in the educational system that is frequently viewed as impeding the provision of high-quality instruction. Furthermore, there is a close relationship between teacher supply and quality. When there is a surplus of teachers, schools can choose from the most qualified applicants; when there is a shortage, they must hire teachers who are less qualified. On the other hand, administrative and organizational factors play a role in outof-field teaching rather than the teacher shortage. As a result, since the Philippines' K–12 Education curriculum was implemented, emphasizing the development of senior high schools, there has been a rise in demand for instructors. A lot of teachers who were determined to be specialists in their field but without the requisite teaching license were hired on a probationary basis as a result of subjects that appeared, especially in the Technical and Vocational streams. In order to become secondary school teachers, a large number of noneducation graduates obtained education units . Due to varying demands, non-TLE teachers are teaching TLE subjects while not possessing all the necessary abilities to be considered a full-fledged TLE teacher. A few of them acquired the TLE competences via experiences, peer tutorials, self-study, and with the help of with the aid of social media and technologies. These are some challenges that the department is facing at present.
