“I could never have decorated this house without seeing the world”

I want my home to feel like a home...to be eclectic and to have soul.” Blending in with antique finds from d’abo’s travels are beautiful works of art, as her home is also an extension of her art gallery—the Cat Street Gallery—and the artists represented there. When selecting the artworks to adorn her home, d’abo confesses that when she falls in love with a piece, she has to have it. “I love fun, vibrant, funky, bold, colourful artworks and sculptures. Whenever I see a work I fall in love with, I can imagine where I will place it,” she says. Each one of the works in her collection holds a special place in her heart. “One of my most favourite works, Expedition, is by the Australian artist Guy Maestri, who was the first artist I showed when I opened The Cat Street Gallery nine years ago. I feel very nostalgic about this work and what it represents,” she reflects. d’abo’s home is not only an extension of her gallery, but most importantly a space for her family, dogs and friends to feel comfortable in. “Hong Kong is such a transient place...and our friends here are our family. To be able to have them over for Sunday lunch is really important to me,” d’abo says. It’s evident that she’s carved out an ideal corner for her family, one that reflects the way they live and is filled with the things they love. In addition to an active family life
