ANNIE LEIBOVITZ: PORTRAITS 2005–2016

Artists have been making extraordinary portraits of the mighty for centuries, from Velázquez’s Philip IV to Lucian Freud’s Queen Elizabeth II. But arguably the greatest portrait-taker of our age isn’t a painter but a photographer: Annie Leibovitz. Her career spans nearly five decades, starting in 1970 when she began creating legendary portraits for Rolling Stone followed by three decades at Vanity Fair and Vogue.
