Tree of life
At the beginning of the 18th century,
the taste for Asian arts developed in France with imported porcelains
and precious objects common in aristocratic interiors. Le Paradis aux
Mille Fleurs is a wall covering by Pierre Frey depicting a sumptuous tree of life extracted from a plate entitled “dressins chinois” originally created by Jean-antoine Fraisse for the Duc de Bourbon. The drawing, printed on grasscloth, is a panoramic piece
sidematched for a limitless effect.
