When summer is here and the sun is out, one can’t help but savour moments spent outdoors. The best part of the hot summer months is finding the time to relax and bask in the sun-whether reading a book out in the garden or entertaining family and friends by the poolside. But no matter the season, one can always create a calm oasis in the home by selecting the most luxurious, comfortable, and functional furnishings designed specifically for outdoor use.
Launched at IMM Cologne 2018, Bay Collection is an outdoor seating system designed by the British duo Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien for B&B Italia. These sculptural furniture pieces highlight braided volumes combined with padded rock-like seats and soft cushions that reflect B&B Italia’s design DNA: elegance, comfort, and refinement. Double braiding grants lightness and transparency to the collection, while colour combinations are refined with tortora and anthracite options for weave finishes, paired with striking fabrics in solid tones and patterns for seat and optional cushions.
Lounge in generously sized sofas and armchairs, or engage in conversations while enjoying favourite snacks and beverages placed atop a coffee table. The collection also includes ottomans that can be used to put your feet up, as an additional seat, or topped with a tray to add a hard surface to hold drinks; decorative pillows for restful outdoor afternoon naps; and complementing outdoor rugs to make going barefoot an absolute treat.
Together with Naoto Fukasawa’s Fiore table and Papilio Shell chairs and the Canasta ‘13 collection by Patricia Urquiola— B&B Italia’s other iconic outdoor lines—the Bay Collection aims to reflect the brand’s signature technological advancement, ergonomic, and formal quality.
