‘Tis the Season for Coffee

NESPRESSO, in partnership with renowned Danish furniture and lighting designer Louise Campbell, launches a series of coffee flavours and limited-edition accessories inspired by Scandinavian cultural trends

For its holiday season offerings, the Swiss brand Nespresso looked to its neighbours for inspiration. Embracing two concepts—hygge (a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality from the Danes) and Fika (a social institution built around the sharing of a cup of coffee from the Swedes)— Nespresso designed a line of limited-edition coffee products that encourages everyone to pause awhile to connect with friends and family.

The result of a fruitful collaboration between Nespresso and renowned Danish designer Louise Campbell, the holiday products consists of two coffee flavours, one black coffee, and exclusive accessories that will appeal to the most discerning coffee and design aficionados.

The two holiday season flavours are part of the Nespresso Original: Nordic Almond Cake Flavoured coffee and Nordic Cloudberry Flavoured coffee. The first features a combination of biscuit and vanilla aromas with a Livanto base; it tastes like Kvaefjordkake, a traditional Norwegian cake. The second, on the other hand, offers a delicate, tart taste of cloudberries that grow in extreme climates. This flavour also has a Livanto base with a sweet jammy fruitiness and a hint of acidity.

The Nordic Black flavour fuses African and South American Arabica blends— full of elegant sweet fruity notes and a smooth cereal aftertaste, suited for those who prefer their coffee strong.

Designed by Campbell, the exclusive collection of capsules, sleeves, and accessories, together with two types of PIXIE Cups and a View Cube, sports a minimalist pattern and illustrates the beauty of Nordic nature. Each item heightens the pleasure of drinking coffee is consumed, making it the perfect Christmas gift for loved ones who are particular with their brew.

“I was thrilled to bits when I heard that my proposal for making the capsules was accepted, making each of them as fascinating as pebbles on a beach and as irresistible to collect. I took this idea of variation with me through the rest of the campaign,” says Campbell on the collaboration. “I hope the products and designs will provide a breath of fresh, Nordic air during a very busy season. I also hope it will remind the viewer of the beauty of nature and the thrill of paying attention to detail. Each part of my work can be seen as a postcard from the North, be it a capsule, a shopping bag or a sleeve.”

Commercial-type Surface Power

The Viking 7 Series Range features cutting-edge brass flame ports that boast a total of 23,000 BTUS (British Thermal Unit)—the two rear burners put out 15,000 BTUS while the two front burners churn 8,000 BTUS. With a strong flame power, the Viking 7 Series Range cooks food faster.

While the Viking 7 Series Range provides intense heat, one can also adjust it to low cooking temperatures with the Varisimmer setting. This feature ensures automatic ignition and re-ignition should the burners extinguish while cooking.

Vi-chrome Griddle

In between the burners is a chromeplated griddle, which heats evenly on the entire surface and can be easily removed for cleaning. It comes with a grease management system that funnels excess grease into a removable Staycool Trough Handle, which resists heat from the griddle so it can be easily removed and disposed.

Dual Fuel Oven

Underneath, the Viking 7 Series Range has a fully featured convection oven, the largest among gas stove brands, with 12 high-performance cooking modes. It has innovative features that make it stand out. The Vari-speed Dual Flow Convection System has a two-speed fan that rotates bi-directional for maximum and excellent cooking results. The Gourmetglo Infrared Broiler stirs intense heat to lock in savoury juices. The Rapid Ready Preheat is engineered with the shortest preheat time to provide optimum cooking.

Easy Operation and Cleanup

Cooking is convenient with the Viking 7 Series Range. Its efficient function and design include Softlid LED Lights that illuminate the knobs to provide better visibility and heavy gauge porcelain burner pan with elevated flame ports prevent spills.

Colour Finishes

The range can be customised with striking colours like cobalt blue or apple red. For a more classic feel, the subdued graphite grey or black adds a nice touch and complements neutral kitchen interiors.

good counsel When Danish architects Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller created a new council building in Aarhus, Denmark, in 1946, they also took charge of the building’s interior design. The Aarhus wall lamp was among the pieces created to complement the overall scheme. Produced by Santa & Cole, the elegant and unobtrusive lamp features a sturdy brass skirt and an oval-shaped white opal glass shade. It has a timeless appeal that lends itself well to a variety of interior concepts.

Balancing act Comprising glass, metal and an LED light source, the Coax Pendant 02 has a sleek, industrial-influenced aesthetic that works well in minimalist interior schemes. Designed by Seattle-based artist and designer John Hogan for Roll & Hill, this transparent cylindrical lamp looks like a tube of light floating in mid-air.

new classic The La Roche wall lamp is as relevant now as when it was first conceived. Authored by Swiss architect Le Corbusier, this lamp was created in 1925 for his iconic residential projects Villa La Roche and Pavillon de l’esprit Nouveau in Paris. Reissued by Nemo Lighting with an LED light source, this wall lamp was created to illuminate large windows, and is a good choice for areas in need of enhanced vertical lighting.
