Day Dreamin’
Whether loungers or extra sleeping spaces, these plush daybeds will cocoon you in cosiness
MUTED ELEGANCE
Designed by Stefano Gaggero for Flexform, the Lucien chaise longue echoes the sleek lines of the eponymous sofa, heavily inspired by modernist architecture. A variety of finishes such as stained wenge, ebony, or bown, is available to complement its solid ash wood structure. A subtle quilted motif on the seat cushions alludes to the sophisticated tailoring details that Flexform is known for. www.flexform.it
BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL
The French designer Pierre Pauline revived the nostalgic elegance of the ‘50s with the ingenious versatility of his iconic daybed, a furniture that was once considered revolutionary in the French market. Featuring vivid dual-toned hues, Ligne Roset’s Daybed blends harmoniously with any living space while adding a dash of colour. This unique model is versatile, letting one arrange the two back cushions on the bulit-in coffee table alongside the seat cushions, transforming it into a spacious sofa that can sit three to four or an ocassional bed for an individual. www.mosdesign.com.ph
IMAGINARY FRIEND
Dedicated to Freud and reading as revealers of our imaginary, Arflex’s Sigmund daybed promises contemplation and introspection. The seating is beautifully upholstered and is suspended on a light metallic structure, lacquered in the colours of Arflex collection. The brass screws are the single bright and precious detail highlighting, the junction of all the design elements. www.arflex.it
PERFECT ASYMMETRY
Bold and stylish, Flexform’s Zeus daybed by Antonio Citterio features a sculptural, head-turning shape. Its dynamic lines are evident in the armrests that open away from the base. The soft seat cushion is padded in goose down with core insert in crushproof material, while the soft lumbar support cushions are designed to enhance the comfort of the seat back. The daybed is raised off the floor by an elegant cast-aluminium base. Definitely a piece with a big personality, it can confidently steal the scene anywhere in the home. www.flexform.it
ALLURING CURVES
Designed by Jean-marie Massaud for B&B Italia, Terminal, while more of a chaise longue than a conventional daybed, features fluid curves, a good balance between seat and metal support, and a contrast between matt and glossy finishes that amplify its monochromatic charm. With the dual function of an armchair and a chaise longue, it possesses the core features of a sculpture that seems to float beautifully in the room. www.focusglobalinc.com
SQUARE ONE
Inspired by the classic teak duckboard used in yachts to facilitate the outflow of water, the architect Marcio Kogan designed Minotti’s Quadrado, a modular seating system of suspended square platforms. Light and flexible, Quadrado’s focal point is the chic wooden base paired with comfortable padded cushions. Backrests in a special fibre woven with wicker effect comfortably prop up readers and casual sitters. The substantially proportioned double daybed creates an extra comfortable nest where one can sit back, relax, and dream. www.livinginnovations.ph
FRAMED UP
Comfortable and proportional, Porro’s elegant Traveller daybed stands out for a trestle structure in black painted metal used as a support for covers and clothes. The back support is provided by side backrests on which a “saddle effect” saddle leather is stretched robust but softened by the presence of two cushions covered in fabric. Now with a mattress, the Traveller’s seat becomes softer, with two cushions, all available in fabric, leather, and eco-leather, that are removable. www.kuysenfurniture.com
URBAN REFUGE
Joining Minotti’s Tape family of seating systems are outdoor daybeds. While they retain the elegance of the forms and concepts of the original line, a few welcome variants are introduced—the seats are deeper, larger, and more relaxing, while the metal frame, in a new outdoor finish, is covered with wicker-effect cords offered in mud and liquorice colours. www.livinginnovations.ph
