A Technical Marvel
Equipped to withstand just about any situation on and off the tennis court, the look and feel of the RM 67-02 Automatic Alexander Zverev is well- suited to the top player it was named after
As a manufacture that has mastered the art of marrying innovation with elegance, Richard Mille timepieces are favoured by many of the world’s greatest sportsmen, evidenced by the brand’s partnerships with icons like F1 driver Felipe Massa, tennis player Rafael Nadal, and alpine ski racer Alexis Pinturault. Such collaborations have been part and parcel of the Richard Mille legacy since it first tapped sprinter Yohan Blake in 2012, which has helped encourage the brand to keep pushing the envelope with regard to mastering technicity.
Striking, sporty, and surprisingly featherweight at only 32 grams—making it the lightest automatic watch in the Richard Mille collection—the RM 67-02 Automatic Alexander Zverev is being touted by the manufacture as the watch for any situation, designed in such a way that it can be adapted to a variant of sporting disciplines. It has, of course, been put to the test on the court, given that it graces the wrist of Alexander Zverev, the youngest tennis player in the Association of Tennis Professionals top 10 as well as the third best in the world since November 2017. In designing the watch, the engineers had one directive: that it would, under all circumstances, be symbiotic to the sportsman who wears it.
The in-house CRMA7 calibre, the heartbeat of the watch, is protected by a sturdy, shockproof Carbon TPT ® and Red Quartz TPT ® case. A notable feature in this iteration is the ‘comfort’ band, a seamless, non-slip elastic strap that lays perfectly over the contours of one’s wrist. Ergonomics has long been a priority for the manufacture, which keeps sportsmen at the core of its research and development efforts. The colours are fashioned after those on the flag of Zverev’s native Germany, adding a personal touch for the young brand ambassador, who dons this watch during his matches.
