IN THE COMPANY OF WOMEN

For our 18th anniversary issue, we bring you Maricris Zobel, as she speaks on family, faith, and her green thumb

-

On a summer afternoon, our cover subject Maricris Cardenas-Zobel warmly welcomed the Philippine Tatler team to her home. It was a twoday shoot, first with photographer Patrick Diokno and the second, with Mark Nicdao.

The former model’s home has a Balinese vibe with its r esortinspired garden, complete with a pond filled with mini koi as well as tropical flowers and greenery surrounding the pool. This tropical Eden served as the backdrop for our shoot. This is Maricris’ favourite spot in her home; she shared in the interview that whenever her children are looking for her, they go straight to the garden where she is often found happily tending to her plants.

Her daughters—Bianca, Paola, Natalia, and Rocio—conversed freely with the team while getting their hair and make-up done, while Maricris’ five grandchildren sought out their stunning grandma. The home wasn’t complete without the pups frolicking all over the garden, enjoying the frenzy of a pictorial. The shoot started later than originally planned, but our hostess’ graciousness, enthusiasm, and cooperation made up for lost time and we finished the shoot on schedule.

The perfect host prepared a hefty merienda spread from her kitchen composed of pancit bihon, finger sandwiches, cassava cake, and refreshing calamansi juice. The project took two days to complete, but it was certainly a worthwhile endeavour.
