5 Ways to Get Soft, Smooth Skin

-

Clinical naturopath Eugene He is a specialist in skin texture and the founder of Ceramiracle— the brand behind First Light, the best- selling plant- based anti- ageing serum inspired by the white waxy substance that protects a baby’s skin just after birth. Here are He’s top tips on how to achieve smooth, soft skin

1 Diet: “Diet is probably the single most important factor to achieve soft and smooth skin. Drinking water regularly during the day and consuming electrolytes—mineralised water, coconut water, watermelon, and leafy greens— helps to replenish lost moisture. Limit the use of sugar to reduce the formation of Advanced Glycation End Products, which are free radicals that are detrimental to our skin health.”

2 Cleanse: “Use an oil-based cleanser instead of foaming cleansers as they lift dirt and makeup off the skin without dehydrating. The emollients in an oil cleanser will also keep the skin soft and smooth.”

3 Skincare: “Look for ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and squalane, as these help to reduce transepidermal water loss, ensuring your skin stays supple and moist even in dry conditions. These are usually found in oil or balm types of moisturisers, and I recommend applying generously to the face right before bedtime nightly.”

4 Massage: “Massaging your face three to four times weekly will keep the skin soft and firm. Using a face roller, a gua sha board or your hands, work your way gently upwards starting from the décolléte to your forehead. Finish off the massage with a sheet mask and watch your skin glow the next day.”

5 Professional treatments: “For an intensive treat, I recommend going to your facialist to get a radiofrequency face massage. This non-invasive treatment heats the dermis layer of your skin to promote collagen synthesis, which in turn plumps and firms your skin, bringing back that youthful suppleness. Hydrating constantly with electrolytes after the treatment can speed up results.”
