The Clash de Cartier collection is an ode to its heritage but with an edgy design
Known for their iconic collections—such as the LOVE, Juste un Clou and Trinity, Cartier has long been a staple in many collections for its fine jewellery that evokes glamour and elegance. In its newest collection, Clash de Cartier, Cartier moves away from its usual aesthetic. The new jewellery line has all the attitude and elegance in spades.
A balancing act, Clash de Cartier takes a swipe at tradition and liberty with its different approach in fine jewellery making. The collection comprises bracelets, rings, necklaces, and earrings that feature clean lines and geometric design elements. Neo-classical, whimsical, unisex, singular, all at the same time, the collection is crafted in pink gold with studs, beads, and clous carrés. Its silhouette, edgy yet feminine, is a juxtaposition that Cartier wanted to achieve in the duality and polarity of the collection.
Clash de Cartier’s disruptive design shows just how versatile the maison is. Thanks to a specialised mechanism developed by Cartier’s jewellery workshops, each piece of the collection is well mounted and polished. New techniques and tools also hold the studs in place. For its final touch, Cartier seals its craftmanship with the inside of each piece have been delicately scalloped for comfortable wear.
For this jewellery line, Cartier tapped English-Brazilian actress Kaya Scoledario to be its face. “She’s a young talented actress and has a lot of assertiveness, a lot of interesting character; so we felt she resonates very much with the ‘Clash’ spirit,” says the International Marketing and Communications Director of Cartier International, Arnaud Carrez.
