As Precious as Pearls
Restaurateur-entrepreneur Giorgia Guidicelli-Dato shares the romantic story behind her wedding and how Jewelmer pearls reflect the beauty and rarity of real love
“I believe that it requires the simplest and essential things: the couple, God, and family,” Giorgia GuidicelliDato replies when asked about the elements of a perfect wedding. “When all three are complete, there isn’t much more you should look for.” Guidicelli-Dato, who tied the knot with lawyer Ian Dato last 8 December 2019 at the Parish of St Therese in Cebu, stayed true to that belief with a wedding that was characterised by understated elegance and a hint of tradition. Instead of decorating the church with a panoply of hothouse blooms, the organisers decked the sanctuary with fresh greenery and white gladioli. The ladies of the entourage were all dressed in beautiful dresses that reflected the golden sunshine, while the bride herself wore a Mia Arcenas-Branellec gown patterned after the one worn by her paternal grandmother at her own wedding. There was no need for superfluous embellishment, and this could also be seen in the bride’s choice of jewellery.
Guidicelli-Dato chose a hint of luxury with a pair of Dolce Rosa South Sea pearl earrings from Jewelmer. “I wanted to remain simple yet elegant,” the bride recalls. “I didn’t want to be too loud on my accessories so I
decided a very nice Jewelmer pair of earrings would be the best bet.” Indeed, even now that months have passed since her big day, she still uses these earrings to bring a touch of understated sophistication to any outfit.

Mother of the bride, Glenna Guidicelli, expressed herself with a Goutte D’Or pendant and a pair of Illusion earrings during her daughter’s special day. In the pearl’s brilliance, each woman’s individual radiance shone through, as well as their joyful wishes for the couple.
Beyond its elegance, the pearl shines with symbolic significance for the newlywed. Much like a relationship, it is a rare and unique living gem achieved only through a harmonious relationship between man and nature. Pure love is crystallised into full resplendence in the South Sea pearl—and in the beautiful marriage between Giorgia and Ian.
As Giorgia puts it: “Knowing how much time, care, and effort an oyster has to go through in order to make the perfect pearl, I’ve always believed that every woman has a similar story into reaching her identity.”
