Water Proof
In 1991, French synchronised swimmer and water ballet choreographer Muriel Hermine approached Make Up For Ever founder Dany Sanz looking for waterproof make-up that could withstand wear through water show performances. Sanz developed a range of products designed to survive watersports and challenging environmental conditions—and launched it commercially in 2007 as the Aqua line, which became a global category leader in waterproof make-up. This summer, Make Up For Ever relaunches the collection as Aqua Resist, and the products have been rigorously tested for more, uh, contemporary use cases—like, in three-hour-long, back-to-back indoor spin classes in 27-degree rooms averaging 45 per cent humidity—and under other examples of extreme heat and humidity (hello, global warming). Testers were even exposed to 40-degree facial saunas at 90 per cent humidity for six minutes at a time, three times in row, over the course of 20 minutes. The result? Climate-proof, smudge-proof, waterproof, all-day-wear colour pencils and shadows that stay put until you take them off—no matter what the weather.
