Beauty with a French Connection
Inspired by French beauty products during her trips, Mae Ng brings a unique beauty experience to the Philippines with Lemeur and Le Meur Aesthetics
Modern dermatology and aesthetic medicine have become a booming industry over the past several decades. Indeed, these have become particularly visible now with almost every other ad, on and offline, offering beauty solutions from across the globe. Most of the products currently available are from Japan and South Korea, countries with a longstanding reputation for the quality and diversity of their skincare products— and Filipinas can’t seem to get enough of them.
This begs the question: can a Filipino beauty brand compete with global skincare brands in terms of quality, efficacy and sustainability? If you ask young entrepreneur Mae Ng, the dynamic woman behind Lemeur and Le Meur Aesthetics, the answer is a resounding yes.
While born and raised in the Philippines, the Fil-Singaporean Ng travelled extensively when she was younger, with France being one of her favourite destinations. Through numerous trips, she was inspired by the meticulous way French dermatologists and beauty experts develop and craft skincare products to suit the needs of consumers across the globe.
“We all know that most top-of-the-line skincare brands are made in France,” Ng explains. “[So,] with the help of doctors and researchers, we came up with [a similar] science-based approach [for our product line].”
Ng’s Lemeur skincare line is 100 per cent vegan, crafted in a sustainable manner and composed of products that are suitable for all skin types.
But what sets Lemeur apart from its contemporaries in the industry is Le Meur Aesthetics, its very own beauty and wellness clinic. Established in May this year, Le Meur Aesthetics aims to take self-care to a new level, empowering clients by giving them treatments that will make them feel more beautiful and confident.
The French-inspired aesthetics centre blends stateof-the-art dermatological technology with its signature skincare products to give each client a personalised treatment that targets their specific needs.
Le Meur Aesthetic’s current service line includes a variety of masks and facial treatments, such as the au courant glass skin facial that has won a strong following in South Korea; nutritive IV drip therapies for whitening and skin rejuvenation; body scrubs and advanced treatments for brighter, better-toned and youthful looking skin.
But it is the aesthetic technologies that Ng brings to her clientele that truly makes a trip to Le Meur Aesthetics an experience. Case in point: the non-invasive Le Meur Youth 360 which uses radio-frequency technology to penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate collagen production to rejuvenate one’s complexion.
Non-invasive technologies also come into play with the centre’s Exilift contouring system for both the face and body, burning off fat in a safer manner to ensure a slimmer, healthier appearance. Likewise, Le Meur Aesthetics makes use of Picofix lasers to address a variety of skin issues, including hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and even discoloration from scars and burns.
By combining these state-of-the-art technologies with Lemeur’s signature products, Le Meur Aesthetics aims to go beyond mere skin care, as these treatments also help boost each client’s self-confidence, enabling them to feel more empowered as they become more comfortable with their skin.
Lemeur and Le Meur Aesthetics are both relatively young brands in an increasingly competitive industry. But their founder is confident that they will both surge forward through the ongoing evolution of the product line and bringing in innovative technologies to add a whole new dimension to self-care for the modern Filipina.
“We aim to become one of the top skincare brands and [for Le Meur Aesthetics] to become the number one beauty destination,” Ng says. “We want our clients to achieve a skin they’ve long dreamt of.”
