It’s All About Style
We are still on a high from last month’s 20th anniversary celebration, but as the adage goes “the show must go on”. This month is our annual Asia’s Most Influential (AMI): Style, where we have selected 13 deserving individuals who epitomise the essence of this category. I know what you’re thinking: “Do we need another best dressed list especially since no one went out?”. Our answer is, of course, we do. Style is not only about how many designer duds you have but about how you present yourself to the world—and yes even if it’s just on Zoom. This year’s list reflects diversity rather than the obvious. It’s no longer your usual go-to list but names that need to be recognised. The pandemic has brought about a new order, a changing of the guards, and we here in
Tatler do welcome the change. So now, we present the list with the new trendsetters, iconoclasts, classicists and mavericks who dress to the beat of their own heart.
This issue also highlights taste and design with our powerful and exclusive interviews starting off with Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli and our very own and probably the hottest and most renowned Filipino designer today, Michael Cinco. Check out Angelo Comsti’s interview with the legendary chef Jeremiah Tower and take a peek into the latest home by Antwerp-based designer Gert Voorjans.
We also pay tribute to one of the leading photographers in the country, Raymund Isaac. He leaves behind a treasure trove of beautiful images he took for the magazine that will be earmarked in our history, as well as a friendship that will be sorely missed.
Don’t miss the article by Roxanne Robinson titled
Le Scandale, on how the Paris fashion shows and elite refused to be shut down, not even by the pandemic. A line from the article says, “On the whole, the French are intent on keeping their cultures and practices intact and finding a way around pandemic restriction.”
The congratulatory remarks for our 20th anniversary continue on in The Scene section and we get a firsthand look at the Philippine Pavillion designed by Budji Layug and Royal Pineda for the Dubai Expo 2020. The iconic MET Museum on Roxas Boulevard gets a new address and and a rejuvenated spirit as it finds its new home in the bustling financial district in BGC.
There are more exciting surprises in store for all of you as we close in to the last two months of the year. Next month is our Best Of series and in December, get to know the totally refreshed 300 list that features individuals who incorporate power, influence and style.
You are surely in for a treat, so watch out for it!
