Husband-and-wife team Anita and Bittu Kaushal made a pilgrimage to India, where they were inspired by the healing power of the country’s holistic traditions. They went on to study Ayurvedic health and founded Mauli Rituals, which creates “all-natural and organic sensorial blends inspired by science-led Ayurvedic principles and a sense of British refinement”.

RAHUA

New York hairstylis­t Fabian Lliguin collaborat­ed with indigenous groups in the Amazon to develop this organic, vegan line of hair care products. The brand is named after rahua, a nut oil used by the Quechua and Shuar peoples to maintain healthy, glossy hair.

It has never advertised itself as such, but Melbourneb­ased Aesop has been dedicated to being vegan and cruelty-free since it was founded more than 30 years ago, quietly and confidentl­y paving the way for brands that followed.
