Innovative new timepieces are highlighted at the newest Seiko premium boutique in Powerplant Mall

-

Japanese culture and innovation are at the heart of the Grand Seiko ethos. This is clearly evidenced by the timepieces available at the brand’s latest boutique in Powerplant Mall, where along other highend shopping and dining options, people can now— quite literally—get their hands on a staple Grand Seiko timepiece. “We have been in discussion with Powerplant Mall since the pandemic and they provided us with an excellent opportunity to expand Grand Seiko in one of the most prestigious malls in the country. We believe that the clientele of the mall has a good fit with our brand,” said Karl Dy, president of Grand Seiko.

Housed behind sleek glass cases are two new additions to the Grand Seiko Sport Collection. Travel-ready quartz GMT watches boast a stainless-steel case and a dual-curve sapphire crystal surrounded by a fixed stainless-steel bezel with 24-hour scale; they are differentiated by the varying colours of their sunray dial. The former features a black dial with monochromatic highlights while the latter carries a blue sunray dial with red-colour accents.

Those who wish to reminisce about Japan may pre-order the SLGH013, inspired by the melting snows of Mt Iwate. Presented under the Grand Seiko Heritage Collection, this timepiece commemorates the 55th year anniversary of the 44GS and features a light blue dial and case and with a bracelet made of Ever-Brilliant Steel.

Perhaps one of the brand’s most recognisable collections, the Evolution 9, is also on display. Its design achieves a perfect equilibrium of traditional Japanese customs and of the modernity the country is so well known for. Made with clean, confident lines and a quiet radiance, the collection is sure to draw a crowd. “We have many plans for our Seiko boutiques such as future collaborations with other global brands and limitededition offerings for our Grand Seiko 9 Club members and Seiko afficianados,” added Dy.

There’s much to see at this new Powerplant boutique including timepieces such as the Astron 5X Caliber. Inspired by the neon lights of Tokyo at dusk, it is made with Lumibrite that emits an ethereal glow and high night-time legibility. Sports watches such as the Prospex Speedtimer Oregon, which is powered by the Caliber 8R46 and incorporates a vertical clutch and column wheel to ensure precision and durability, will also be on display.

Catch these iconic timepieces at the brand’s latest boutique.
