The Magnificent Five
As we enter the last month of 2023, it is essential to acknowledge and honour the individuals who have contributed to shaping the Philippines landscape. We herald the most influential personalities who have left an indelible mark on the nation and are recognised for their inspiration, vision and significant impact.
This year’s Asia’s Most Influential (AMI) represents diverse fields—politics, culture, arts, entertainment, business, etc. Their influence will continue to shape the nation’s trajectory, inspiring future generations to dream big and work towards a better Philippines.
We have over 50 pages of this special feature, and 100 stellar names make this extensive list, making it an appropriate year-end report that makes us proud and excited to present to you. Thank you to our amazing team, spearheaded by Chit Lijauco, Maritess Reyes and Ryanne Co, as well as the writers Gab Bohol, Julianna Cabili, Angela Guiral, Jove Moya and Franz Sorilla IV, who did the research, compiled text and photos and came up with a wonderful feature!
On the cover, we chose five individuals who represent different sectors: Dr Vicki Belo (Beauty/Business), Jacques Branellec (Sustainability), Ana de Ocampo (Food), Alice Eduardo (Business/Philanthropy) and Erwan Heussaff (Social Media) and were photographed by the talented Patrick Diokno. I chose the dramatic red colour as the backdrop to represent the Christmas season and to represent power, boldness and passion. Also, starting in January 2024, we will have a regular column on AMI, which will be an expounded version with reels and videos to supplement the article.

It’s great to see our good friend Sonja Vodusek, the former Peninsula Manila General Manager, leading this spectacular property, and I wish her all the best. The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, but I can’t help but feel cautious as we traverse through a new year filled with so many uncertainties. The hatred, anger, wars, inflation, corruption and apathy, we’ve seen them all before and know the perils they pose, yet they are still among us. I believe the power of faith is integral. It’s an essential factor to see us through anything and everything. The Christmas season always offers us hope and light. So may this December be a memorable and meaningful Christmas for all of you. And I pray that the New Year will be filled with faith, love, hope and peace! See you in 2024!
