FAMILY IS FOREVER – In the award-winning film topbilled by Jericho Rosales and Jennylyn Mercado, “Walang Forever,” the plot said that, indeed, nothing is permanent…or forever.

Jericho’s namesake and fan, in a way, says otherwise. Family, in his book, is forever. The Jericho in reference is former Energy Secretary and senatorial aspirant (under the Liberal Party) Carlos Jericho Petilla.

Got to have a casual chat with Mr. Petilla upon the invitation of colleague Shirley Pizarro, a most pleasant encounter er as the senatorial hopeful proved to be most amiable and knowledgable.gable.

ECHO & ICOT – He joked that while the showbiz Jericho has a nice-sounding nickname, Echo, his isn’t that glamorous, Icot.

Yes, Icot ( pardon the familiarity) has watched “Walang Forever,” where Echo died. “Hindi pa ako handang mamatay,” he laughed.

Well, Icot has a lot more to do…like winning a slot in the 12-man senatorial EXPERIENCED POLITI POLITICIANS – Mr. Petilla served asa Leyte governor (2004-2012)(2004-2012 before being tapped by PresidentP Aquino as energy s secretary. Under his leadership, leadersh Leyte was named th the Most Friendly Province f for three consecutive years, among other many awards awards. Born and raised in Leyte, he comes from a family of public officials. His father LeopoldoLeo is former governorgo of Leyte, whilew his mother is s the incumbentin mayorm of Pa l o, RemediosRe L. Petilla. His brother DominicDomin is the

incumbent governor Leyte.Leyte

If elected senator, Mr. Petilla’s priority is better legislation in the area of energy (but of course), education, and health. How about movies? He hopes for more government support and a wider audience to include the international market for Filipino films. TEMPO EXCLUSIVE – More of the Miss Universe series, only in TEMPO.
